More comments on the doll

Another funny one (I think) from chaz:
I bought one of those dolls. Mine said "Paul is dead" and "I am the walrus". If you record the babblings and play them backward you can hear "Ozzy is the Christ" and "Led Zeppelin Rules".
And someone called erin commented about the middle name, "Wayne". Finally someone besides me noticed that this is the middle name of serial killers and other crazies.
And Dawn suggests that Bush use some of that $700 billion in bailout money to fix these dolls.
Critterwoman99 says: I think the doll said, "Anybody gotta light?"
ickyickyicky1514 points out: Wait, this occurred in Owasso, Oklahoma, OWASSA, OKLAHOMA; not in say Boston, NYC or Chicago, but in one of the "I seen a UFO, and they probed me" states.
I gotta say, these are some of the scariest comments I've read on a news article. Thank God there are a few like tricia who says she is Christian and is ashamed of the racist, hate-mongering "Christians" posting. They are insane; they think Obama made this doll. So, apparently, this news article was first put out by AOL who called the imagined doll message, "Islam is the light" a "hateful message". Also, they are Wal-Mart shoppers. AOL using, Wal-Mart shoppers are obviously the bulk of the hate-mongers in America.

American Stuff That Isn't American

Top 10 American Icons That Are Not American
Interesting list of American icons such as Budweiser, Church's Chicken, 7-11, Holiday Inn, the Chrysler Building, etc. that are owned by other countries -- quite a few middle eastern ones... The best comment had that Sarah Palin is owned by Vladimir Putin who spotted her across the Bering Strait one day.

Singing Road

They're making a new musical road in Manchester, CA to play William Tell Overture. They had to pave over the previous one; people were complaining about it waking them up. It plays from grooves when you drive over it (read story at San Francisco Chronicle). Those commenting are for it, and boscobobber's was the best about putting grooves in the inner lane that can be heard by those driving too slow telling them to get in the other lane. I also liked iolanthesf's comment that advertisers should really get in on this idea (original road was by Honda).

Reminds me of my grandma who liked to sing along with her tires...

And another thing about that doll...

If your religious faith is so fragile that it can be influenced by Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo, then you should really re-examine your life.

Muslim Dolls and Naked Photos

Last week, I enjoyed the comments from a couple of articles:
Doll pulled over Islamic message - on parentdish.com
and
Hottinger: Law didn't anticipate cell phone photo case

The doll is the Little Mommy Real Loving Baby Cuddle and Coo. The name is enough to pull it from the shelves in my opinion, but it's being pulled from Wal-Mart in Oklahoma because the doll is pushing Islam on unsuspecting two-year-olds. There is a video so you can also be influenced in your religious beliefs by this doll (thankfully, since you might not find it in the stores). About half of the comments on this article are from folks who actually believe that someone made this doll say, "Islam is the light." The other half remember the uproar years back over all the things you could hear when you played some records backwards; it made me think of Governer Welsh from Indiana who knew "Louie Louie" was dirty even though he couldn't make out any of the lyrics because it made his ears tingle when he listened to it. The best comment on this story, the funniest to me, was from NAlonso34 who thought they should make a doll that says, "Tom Cruise is the light!" Of course, Lu's was good, too, wanting a doll that says, "Down with Christian fundamentalists!" There were also all the folks who think Obama is behind the doll since he's a secret Muslim and all.

I was fairly happy with the comments on the story at the Newark Advocate about the 15 year old girl that sent nude photos to her friend's cell phones. She's in some trouble now, and she might even have to register as a sex offender. Only a couple of people commented that she should get the same punishment as an actual sex offender. Those people are sick, in my opinion. Calling a 15 year old who sends photos of herself a "sex offender" makes the words meaningless. karggan and others make good points about how if the girl is charged as an adult, she's then considered an adult, so the photos are now those of an adult, not a child. alawyer brings up the fact that the girl is a foster child and is probably being singled out because of it. Also pretty scary how anyone can be in big trouble if their phone receives something illegal even though they have no control over what they receive on their phone.

First Post - What's going on here?

Recently, I've become addicted to news article comments. They're often better than the article itself, and you can really get a feel for what the masses are thinking from them. I consider them the pulse, and I like to have my finger on that.
First, a couple of sites that are kind of related:
Thrive or Fail - If you don't want to take the time to comment on a news story, you can go here and just vote as to how you feel about it; some you vote for a person, such as who won the debate or you vote whether or not you agree with the way something turned out like a court case.
Polling Report - All the polls in one place, Gallop, CBS, ABC, Time, and many more.
